Right then.
Thanks for the responses so far. I found that I was unable to password-protect the .pdf version, and since I'm not using Acrobat to create it, can't do much about that. So anyone interested in this file is going to have to ask me for the upload link, and I will be wanting a statement of age, please. Which is why, Ender, that I'm not taking you up on your kind offer to host the file for me, but thank you anyway. I gather I've got 90 days, as it stands right now. That should probably be enough.

Hi everyone. (waves) Yes,I'm still alive. Maybe not kicking, but alive.
Anyway, I was asked a while back for a PDF version of O&C, and I've finally got one that I'm happy with. However, since this is something that's meant expressly for downloading, I don't imagine I can post the actual file here, on LJ, right? Especially as it's close to 2.5 MB. So what's a practical solution? I have, or had, an account on MegaUpload - would that be a reasonable place to put it, and post the link here? Also what do I do, if anything, about placing an age restriction on the file, or on access to it? The warnings that are present here, on the LJ version, are no longer on the PDF file, just the Author's Notes.
All (sensible) suggestions welcome, and thank you in advance.

In response to someone asking anonymously on my last post whether "His to Hold" would be appearing on-line in 2009, I have to say, I hope so. I have been pencil-editing my printed copy; there's quite a lot of small changes I want to make, and RL is being particularly demanding right now, not to mention that I will be out of the country, and therefore mostly off-line, for the best part of five months in all this year. However, I am working on it, I promise!

Hi, everyone
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has friended me over the last few months. Some of you, I already knew, most have been strangers. I haven't responded specifically to "friendings", if there was no comment, but please believe that I'm grateful for your interest.
In that light, I thought it only fair that I provide a brief update.
It currently looks extremely unlikely that I will be able to meet my original deadline for putting "His to Hold" on-line. SilverValley has had what seems to be a pretty turbulent half-year there, in RL, and although I know that a good deal of work has been accomplished, I don't have enough images to go ahead. And even if I got the lot within the next week, now I am the one without the time to do the proper set-up. Furthermore, I will be more or less off-line from the end of June, to the start of October. So, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm officially putting back the date of release of HtH until early winter (I hope!).
Hoping you'll all continue to bear patiently with me, and with thanks again to me new friends, I wish you all the best for the meantime.

12:16 am - SV fic Art Challenge
Next May, the exclusivity period for my last SV zine, "His to Hold", expires, and I will be putting the contents up here for public viewing, as I did with "The Oak and the Cypress". All the chapters are ready for posting, and once I have everything together, I hope to have the completed zine up by mid-June.
However, as it stands, "His to Hold" is without illustration. There are letters in it, which I have created as .jpg's, in order to retain the various typefaces that were used in the printed zine, but no actual pictures, and I would really like to have something nice for readers to look at as they read. So, here's the challenge :-
- "His to Hold" is an NC-17, Clex, slash, AU novel. It is set in England, between 1821 and 1826.
- If anyone is interested in illustrating this, please leave a comment below, with an email address, and I will mail you a short extract of the text, one of the more explicitly (non-sexual, though) descriptive passages.
- Everyone who comments will receive the same extract.
- You will have until 15th December to provide me with an illustration of that scene. You may take any aspect of it, any angle, that you wish.
- Once I have seen all the entries, I will make my choice, and send the artist the complete text.
-I will be looking for 15-20 illustrations in all (more, if you're really inspired! :-) ), including the sample one (unless you'd rather not). However, you need not feel obligated, in any way, to illustrate the couple of sex scenes there are.
- I will need all illustrations completed and received, preferably in .jpg format, by 1st June 2008.
- No image created for "His to Hold" is to be published before the publication of the novel here on my LJ, but after that, the artist is free to do as s/he pleases with the images.
First of all, I'd like to say thank you, profusely, to anyone who expresses an interest in this challenge. I'm doing this in advance, because the artist who ends up collaborating with me on this project is going to find that I'm a picky b****. I can't draw to save myself, yet I have some very clear visual images in my head, and I'm looking for something that will at least come close to those. I will whinge, and noodge, and generally (probably) make a nuisance of myself, until things are perfect. I will tell you that the costumes aren't right, that the period looks wrong, that this building or room wasn't meant to look that way, and you will want to drop me in boiling oil. That said, I will never be rude about it. You have a talent I can only dream of, and I'm extremely grateful to anyone who even wants to make the effort.
If anyone wants further clarifications, just let me know in your comment.
